Satellite service is now comparable to low-end wireless broadband, with up to true 1 megabit per second download, "always on", and a reasonable charge (less than $300) for the special antenna and its installation. It is the best choice for rural locations where wireless cannot reach.
Our own experience: CEONET installed satellite service at its North Glengarry office prior to its move to Kingston. The service was dependable and rarely out, only when there was unusually bad weather such as heavy rain or a serious snow storm.
